Update 7/20/04: Abbe was found as a stray in southern Iowa. She is very sweet and lovable. She weighs about 55 pounds and is about 24 inches tall at the shoulders. She likes to just be petted by her human. She is house trained and crate trained. She is neutered and up to date on her shots. She has no tattoos, but it is expected that she is 1 1/2 to 2 years old. Somewhere along the way Abbe lost a part of her tail, but that doesn't stop her from romping with the other dogs in the yard!! She has the typical big brown eyes of many greyhounds, so you are sure to fall in love with her!! Posted for Greyhound Friends New Jersey, contact YML96@aol.com .
red female, three years old. Weighs about 62 pounds, and in really good shape. She has a broken hock in a splint that needs to stay on for about 3 more weeks. Dora is afraid of cats, at least she was yesterday. She is an alpha female, who let the two boys know yesterday on the way home who is the boss. This morning she was a little growly when I took her outside and several dogs came to greet her. It only took a few minutes for her to settle down and move around the yard with them all, with her muzzle on. She will do best in a home with male dogs, but probably doesn't need any. She is a drop dead gorgeous dark red fawn with lots of white chest and the Maybelline eyes. She has not been spayed, this will be done when her splint can come off. She uses her leg fine, but it will be weak for the first few weeks when its removed. I did not give her a bath, just Frontlined her. Maybe I can get her bath done tomorrow outside. She loves attention, is extremely friendly. She is quiet in h 2 years old, red brindle male. Very playful and happy, loves everybody. Good with dogs and cats, and loves kids (over age 8 please). Ham needs a fenced yard, as he is young and must run free from the leash. He is very excited when he knows he is going for a walk or a car ride, but settles down after a short time. Ham would like a second dog in the household for company. He is a wonderful quiet crate dog.
,(Raider Gold) born in September of 2002. He isn't even 2 years old yet. Tigger is white with just a little brindle on his ears and some faint ticking. He is large, gentle and quiet, and just a little shy. He is wonderful with other dogs, and wags his tail when he gets excited. He was being fostered by Rosemarie for Greyhound Friends and she suggested we take him as I needed to return Ciara. We have a treasure here. He seems OK with cats and rode great coming home from Mass. yesterday. He weighs about 76 pounds and needs to gain about 5 pounds. He is housebroken and eats very well. He will come to our clinic Saturday morning. Doreen Day and Dave are going to foster him, so he will hitch a ride with Gloria back to the Kingston area. This boy is going to make a wonderful companion. He might like to have another greyhound, if possible, in his life. Tigger is off the Seabrook track.
medium size black galgo from Cadiz, Spain. Jaguar is a sweet, sweet boy, who prances around like a horse. He loves attention and hugs. He is about 2 years old. Jag likes to sprawl out on a couch or bed and just lie there and take in his new surroundings. He had a rough life in Spain, and is lucky to be alive. He is being treated with doxycycline for high titer of erlichia and so he will wait a while to be neutered. He loves to run in the yard and his gait is getting a little less stiff. He is still a little thin, but putting on weight, as he loves to eat. Jaguar is obviously appreciative of love and care. He is a little shy at first, because he doesn't know what to expect from new people. He is a galgo, and they are the most forgiving of dogs, very much like greyhounds. I really enjoy just holding him.
young fawn male, very shy, will be fostered by Holly. More to come.
(Formerly Wanda), fawn brindle female from Cadiz, Spain. Fortune is a go go girl, very fast and athletic. She really needs to run flat out a couple times a day, so will need a large fenced in yard. She is probably about 2 years old. She is very attached to Jaguar and howls when she sees him going outside without her. I am changing her crate position, so that she isn't right next to him, and she can slowly stop relying on him. I think she would like a home with at least one other dog. She is in super shape, doesn't need to gain weight at all. She is housebroken. She is beautiful and except for her face and ears, looks very much like a greyhound. The day after she arrived, she got up on a love seat and sprawled into the lap of Doreen and Dave. This girl is going to be a wonderful companion pet. She loves treats and hugs. Fortune will be spayed soon.
Small brindle female galgo, just arrived from Spain. Marta is extremely shy and will need to spend some time with her foster family to gain confidence. We believe she is about one year old.
large 78 pound fawn male. Timo was born in January 2002, and is just 2 years old. Its a shame that he fractured his hock when he is really just a baby. He is big and strong and breathtaking. He too is a deep red color with lots of white chest. He is a honey bunny, a real pet. He is pretty calm for a young dog. His hock break was serious and recent and already has the complication of pressure sores under the splint. The track vet re-splinted his leg two days ago and has the sores protected. Timo started an antibiotic last night and hopefully we will keep that from becoming infected. He is a big baby, and having some difficulty settling down. He also has a bad case of diarrhea. He fussed all night, even though I was sleeping right next to him. Today he is settling down better. He is in one of our colossal great dane crates, that is 45 inches high and big all over, so he can sprawl out and move around very easy. I did not cat test him yet, but he will probably be OK. He is not neu is a 3 year old white ticked brindle female. Very social. Good with other dogs. Very sweet, small snuggler, just arrived.
is a 5 year old brindle male from Florida. He is fine with cats and very friendly. Also good with other dogs. He is being fostered by Renee Davall. reneeandgreys@aol.com
is a young very shy female galgo just arrived from Spain. From Anna: she is a beauty that will become a wonderful dog when she gets out of her shell. Her big black eyes set wide apart, her fragile expressive ears, make her a stunning beauty. Maggie is white with fawn spots.
Update May 23 - Rosa arrived from Spain very shy and extremely thin. She is a stunning galgo with almond shaped eyes and a graceful long neck and body. Since arriving about a month ago, Rosa has developed into a happy and playful galgo. She has put on 8 pounds and is ready to be spayed and move into her forever home with Maryjean and Mike, and greyhounds Alfy and Stormy, plus an assortment of cats. Rosa is a very special lady, and she has worked very hard to overcome her fears. Goes to show how forgiving galgos are when they are shown love and safety.
red female, 62 lbs, 5/00, people dog who has been handled. She is good for a first time adopter or an additional dog.
She is being fostered by Gloria, gjarm@hvc.rr.com Jeralyn was four years old yesterday. She just arrived from a Massachusetts track on Saturday. Linda says she has been handled a lot, and would be good for a first time adopter. She is NOT cat appropriate. Gloria says she is perfect. We will have more info coming.
is a very young greyhound/German shepherd mix. His foster Mom writes:
"Smart, very loving, athletic dog who needs a job. He exhibits many of the behavioral traits of a German shepherd when it comes to dominance and territoriality. Not small dog safe (or ferret safe), unknown how he is with cats yet. Has been responding to training very well, but since he is young, still has a very short attention span." Contact greysnferrets@yahoo.com for more info.
Here is our new boy South. His wounds are due to being attacked by other dogs when he reached an adoption group. He is a beautiful greyhound.

black female, 58 lbs, 3/00, well behaved, friendly, tail wagging girl, cats and kids okay. She is four years old, and very mellow and sweet. She is being fostered by Janet and Rick in the Binghamton NY area. More to come later.
2 year old black male. A little shy, but warmed up after a couple days at Holly's, and is a doll. He is here with me now, and settling in very well. He is a beautiful shiny black, not too large for a male. He is getting more bold each day and enjoys going outside to run around. He is fine with the other dogs. Probably will be OK with cats too. He is quiet in his crate and uses it for a little security if its gets too hectic.
Teacher was born January 20, 2001. He has a black satin coat, and is a little on the shy side. He is a beautiful black greyhound, and probably OK with cats.

red female, 10/23/00, 69 lbs (has a few extra lbs, raced at 62), well behaved friendly girl, NOT okay with cats. Going to be fostered by Renee and Jim

3 years old, brindle female, seems OK with cats. Bess is a happy, happy girl; full of kisses and tail wags. She would do best with a fenced yard. She is fine with other dogs and loves to run around and play. When she gets tired, she just flops down in the sun. Bess is learning not to jump, as she can’t wait to get up in your arms to give her kisses. She is super affectionate and very well behaved. Kids over 10 would be best. Bess wants nothing in life more than having someone hold her in his or her arms and love her. She is content wherever she is and is going to be a wonderful addition to some lucky family.
is a sweet dog with big loving eyes. He is young and active, and needs a home where he can get much exercise and plenty of loving patience. Patches is a special needs dog with a difficult background. He has overcome his fear of the dark, though he is still very afraid of men. He wants to please his human(s) but needs firm, kind guidance. Negative forms of discipline could set him back into his world of fear. He is crate trained and almost housebroken. He would prefer a home with a fenced yard and another young dog who likes to play.
brindle female, recovering from major foot surgery. More to come.
